New Edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised is Here

On September 23, a new edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised was announced as the official parliamentary manual for those organizations that have adopted RONR in their bylaws as their official parliamentary authority.

The new edition, the eleventh, includes many clarifications and easier-to-understand language throughout, along with a new section on electronic meetings and an extensively reworked chapter on discipline.

In addition the companion book Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised In Brief was also updated.  In Brief is the best resource for volunteer leaders and members to use to help get them through meetings with handy reference to motions and how to conduct business.

Both books can be purchased in the National Association of Parliamentarians' bookstore www.parliamentarians.org in the Reference section of the catalog.  RONR is available in hardback, paperback, and spiral bound paperback format.

Just joined a NON-PROFIT organization in Florida. Are Roberts Rules automatic implied by State Statues or should they be adopted by Board? We are confused.

Your parliamentary authority should be adopted by the membership through amendment of the bylaws. If your non-profit does not have a membership body or a delegate body, and the board of directors has sole governing authority, then the parliamentary authority should be adopted by the board.
