BECOME A MEMBER
FSAP Membership Requirements
To become an active or affiliate member of FSAP, you must join the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP), FSAP’s parent organization.
Provisional members of FSAP Units do not have to join NAP until they are ready to become an active member. Provisional members may be members of FSAP, but they must also be a member of a local unit.
State Dues
Annual dues for all FSAP members, except student members, are $25.
Annual dues for FSAP Student members are $12.50
Dues for all members except provisionals, are billed by the National Association of Parliamentarians. Be sure your mailing address is correct by checking the member directory on the NAP website or by calling NAP headquarters at 888-627-2929.
Provisional members’ dues are to be submitted to Karen Price, FSAP Treasurer.
Every member will receive a copy of The Florida Parliamentarian quarterly via email.
NAP Membership
There are three easy steps to become a member of NAP
1. Complete the membership application.
2. Pay your first year’s pro-rated dues.
3. Successfully complete the membership introductory quiz. NAP Membership Study Guide
NAP Dues
Dues are pro-rated monthly for new members. Currently, dues for a full year are $70 for regular members plus the state dues.
Units
Local units are affiliated with the state association. They provide education and study opportunities for members and can help provisional members study for the NAP membership introductory quiz. Knowledgeable unit members are a great resource for provisional members and the public. Unit dues vary and are collected directly by the unit.
About the Membership Introductory Quiz
There are 40 questions on the membership quiz are taken from the material in Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised In Brief, 2nd edition, Chapters 1-12. Most of this material is likely information you already know. The quiz helps NAP know how to provide the education and products helpful to you.

When you are ready to take the quiz, contact NAP for an application for membership download the application from the NAP website (in the Documents section).
You will need to arrange to have an NAP member or a responsible member of your community monitor your quiz. You may take the quiz online or request a paper exam be sent to your monitor.

Other Independent Study
The University of Wisconsin Extension offers an Independent Learning Course entitled “Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure: Dynamics of Leadership.” This course will earn the student 14 Continuing Education Units (CEU) in addition to eligibility to join NAP without further testing.
